Flashback

From 22 June until 1 July I was in Budapest and took part in Hardcore Youth Exchange. I enjoyed those days a lot thanks to great people, interesting topics, remarkably beautiful city environment and a different culture.

On the first two days we did team building and ice breaking games and activities and got to know each other better. I think we had a good team and got many inside jokes like "Let´s play attention!" (one extra "l"). The people made this exchange unforgettable. During this time we talked a lot about extremity and especially about extremity in music industry. I learned about different styles of music and what kind of stereotypes people have about lifestyles related to music. I really liked the movie ‘Transamerica’ that talked about a transsexual woman´s life. After that we had a conversation about LGBT people. One of the most interesting and disputing theme was if sex is biological or cultural. In the end we didn´t have the answer, but got many interesting opinions and points of view.

The city was incredible, especially the architecture – The Parliament Building, Buda Castle Palace, Hero Square. One evening we climbed up to the hill where there was a Statue of Liberty. The view of  the city was amazing. The city environment is so different from Estonia and feeling this atmosphere was great. I really liked to learn about a different culture and talk about cultural differences. When we talked about LGBT people and the others’ opinions on them, I could compare the Hungarians´ and the Estonians´ experiences. 

I’d really like to thank the Hungarian leaders who invited the Estonians and organized the events of those ten days. It was a lot of work to do. Köszönöm!

I Joined this project because, as I said I like to travel. BUT I know many people who consider themselves Gay or Bi. Some of them I consider my friends so this topic is important to me aswell.
